The new rent-geared-to-income (RGI) rules, aimed at simplifying RGI administration, came into effect on July 1, 2020. Service managers had the option to delay implementation of the new rules (other than the new guidelines for minimum rent) until July 1, 2021.
We're offering our popular in-depth workshop on RGI simplification and the changes to the Housing Services Act, 2011, and its regulations on three dates in April, May and June leading up to the full implementation of the new rules.
Led by an experienced RGI professional, we’ll delve into the legislation, applying the new rules, and how the changes will affect tenants and your own administrative processes.
Gain an understanding of:
- how RGI administration is changing, and how it will stay the same
- when to seek clarification from your service manager
- the new RGI calculation
- how to implement the changes (including the new minimum rent rules) when performing annual RGI reviews, and more!
This workshop is recommended for housing provider staff responsible for RGI administration and service manager staff working on policies and procedures concerning the implementation of the new RGI rules.
Attention: providers in Toronto
The City of Toronto, in partnership with ONPHA, will be offering a customized course that will be mandatory for Toronto providers and will meet both new province-wide RGI administration requirements as well as requirements based on Toronto’s local rules. We would like to provide clarification that while ONPHA’s standardized RGI course is open to everyone, all new staff administering RGI in Toronto will be required to register for the customized RGI course for Toronto when it becomes available. This requirement will apply to all Toronto providers, regardless of whether they have taken the standard RGI course offered by ONPHA. If you have any questions about Toronto’s new requirements, please email HSS@toronto.ca.
: The same workshop content will be offered on all three dates. Please choose one session to attend.
