ONPHA's Statement on the Recent Act of Anti-Muslim Violence in London, Ontario

June 11, 2021

We are profoundly saddened by the recent terror attack in London, Ontario this past weekend that resulted in the death and serious injury of members of a Pakistani-Canadian family. We extend our deepest thoughts and sympathies to the extended family of the victims and Muslim communities in the wake of this horrific act of hate and the endured pervasion of Islamophobia in Canadian society.

ONPHA stands in solidarity with Muslim communities in working towards ending these acts of violence, breaking down barriers of hatred and other racially motivated crimes. As leaders within a culturally diverse sector, it is imperative to take solid action against hate-motivated crimes against marginalized groups in Canada to foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.

The non-profit housing sector is part of the solution to creating more equitable, diverse and inclusive communities. ONPHA will continue to follow, support and provide information to our members and the public on these significant matters within our community.
